Getting started
Install sonarID, connect your store, and start identifying VIP customers in under five minutes.
Install sonarID from the Shopify App Store
Open the Shopify App Store and search for sonarID, or follow the install link from sonarid.com.
Click Install. Shopify will ask you to review the permissions sonarID needs. We request read access to your orders and customers — we never write to or modify your store data.
After approving, you land in your sonarID dashboard. Your store is now connected.
sonarID works with all Shopify plans: Basic, Grow, Advanced, and Plus.
Connect Slack for VIP alerts
Go to Settings → Notifications in your sonarID dashboard.
Click Connect Slack and sign in with your workspace. Authorize the sonarID bot.
Choose the Slack channel where you want VIP alerts to appear (e.g., #vip-customers or #orders).
Save your settings. You'll receive a test message to confirm the connection is working.
You can skip Slack for now and come back to it. You can still browse VIPs in the dashboard without Slack connected.
Choose a plan and start your free trial
sonarID offers a 7-day free trial on all plans. No credit card required.
Select a plan based on your monthly order volume. Most new merchants start with Starter ($49/month for stores under 2,500 orders/month, plus $0.03 per customer enriched).
Billing is handled through Shopify — charges appear on your Shopify invoice. There is no separate sonarID billing account.
You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your Shopify admin.
Run enrichment on your order history
After connecting your store, sonarID will offer to enrich your existing order history.
Click Enrich past orders on the dashboard. Depending on how many orders you have, this takes a few minutes to a few hours.
Most merchants find 20–40 notable customers in their existing database during this initial run. You'll see them appear in the VIP Customers section as results come in.
Historical enrichment is optional but recommended. It gives you an immediate picture of who your notable customers already are.
Your first live enrichment
Every new order placed in your Shopify store is automatically enriched — no setup required. You don't need to trigger anything manually.
sonarID picks up new orders in real time and runs enrichment in the background. For most orders, enrichment completes within 2–5 seconds.
If a VIP is detected, a Slack alert fires immediately with the customer's name, order value, VIP category, and key signals.
If no VIP is detected for an order, no alert is sent. You can view all enriched orders in the dashboard.
Reading VIP results in the dashboard
The VIP Customers section shows every customer flagged as a VIP. You'll see their name, order value, VIP category (Influencer, Founder, Investor, Press, Creator, or Celebrity/Public Figure), and the signals that triggered the match.
Each VIP profile shows the specific signals detected: follower counts, job title, company, credentials like Forbes 30 Under 30 or YC alum, and links to their public profiles.
The VIP score (0–100) reflects confidence in the match. Scores above the threshold trigger alerts. You can adjust the threshold in Settings.
The Orders section shows all enriched orders, including non-VIPs. Each order displays its enrichment status: VIP detected, no match found, or enrichment pending.
Every new order is enriched
sonarID runs automatically in the background. You don't need to check in — alerts come to you.
VIPs surface in Slack
When a notable customer is detected, you get a Slack message with their name, order value, and key signals.
Build your VIP list over time
Your dashboard accumulates a growing picture of your notable customer base — useful for outreach, gifting, and PR.
Do I need to do anything for new orders to be enriched?
No. Every new order triggers enrichment automatically. There's nothing to configure or manually trigger after setup.
How do I know if sonarID is working?
Check the Orders page in your dashboard. Enriched orders will show a status of VIP detected, no match found, or enrichment pending. If you see orders processing, enrichment is running.
What if I don't use Slack?
You can skip Slack setup and use sonarID without it. All VIPs are visible in the dashboard. Slack is the primary alert channel, but it's not required to get value from the product.
Can my whole team access the dashboard?
Yes. You can invite team members by going to Settings → Team. Each invited user logs in with their Shopify account credentials.
A customer I know is a VIP wasn't flagged. Why?
A few common reasons: they used a personal email not linked to their professional presence, their public profiles don't meet our signal thresholds (e.g., under 10K followers), or they haven't been indexed by our data sources yet. You can manually mark any customer as a VIP in the dashboard.
What data does sonarID access from my Shopify store?
We read order data (email, name, order value, shipping address) and customer records. We never write to your store. We never access payment details, passwords, or private app data.
How does billing work?
Billing is handled through Shopify. Your sonarID subscription charge appears on your regular Shopify invoice — there's no separate payment method to set up. Usage is counted per unique customer email enriched, not per order.
How do I uninstall?
Go to your Shopify admin → Apps → sonarID → Delete. Your enrichment data is stored for 30 days after uninstall in case you reinstall. After 30 days, it's permanently deleted.
Is my customer data shared with anyone?
No. We do not sell or share your customer data with third parties. We use external enrichment providers under strict data processing agreements — they cannot use your data for any other purpose.
